Overview
Protec Camerfield is looking for a self‑motivated individual to manage all aspects of mechanical sprinkler or water mist suppression systems. The role requires a proactive, pragmatic professional who can work independently and collaboratively with design, procurement and installation teams to deliver high quality solutions to customers. The project manager will be involved from pre‑order through to final accounts and warranty recovery.
Position Details
Sprinkler & Water Mist Project Manager
Salary: £35,000 – £60,000 (dependent on experience)
Location: London/SE (national coverage, some travel required)

Protec Camerfield is part of a growing, diverse team within an expanding sector of the fire industry. Current and forthcoming projects cover public and private sectors including custodial, healthcare, hotels, retail and residential. Projects range in value from £10k to £5M. Travel and accommodation are fully covered, and training, further qualifications and a bonus scheme will be offered.
Responsibilities
- Expertly manage sprinkler or water mist installation contracts from initial enquiry to final accounts.
- Assume full financial control of projects, delivering works efficiently and profitably, including raising purchase and subcontract orders.
- Manage on‑site installation work, attend regular client meetings, oversee health & safety, produce progress updates, reports and quality assurance checks.
- Prepare and communicate detailed programmes of work to meet deadlines and contract requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers, design, engineers and subcontractors for timely delivery and information flow, and accurately report to clients, contractors and governing bodies.
- Negotiate, monitor and produce quotations for contract variations.
- Identify potential problem areas early and obtain commercial advice where required.
- Prepare technical reports and submittals, including operating and maintenance manuals and handover documents.
- Identify and report deviations or nonconformities from scope, standards or contract.
- Travel within the UK and visit European suppliers as necessary.
- Perform any other duties commensurate with the role.
Qualifications
- GCSE in Maths and English.
- Mechanical engineering qualification.
- NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management.
- CSCS Construction Skills Card.
- Health & Safety qualification (IOSH, SMSTS, etc.).
Experience
- Experience in construction project engineering or management.
- Experience in sprinkler or water mist suppression project engineering or management.
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards and Regulations: LPC 12845, BS 8489, BS 9251, NFPA, FM Global.
- Knowledge of sprinkler or water mist equipment and installation.
