Overview
Base Location: Aberdeen, Inverness or Perth. For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office or on site.
Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + car / car allowance + performance‑related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Responsibilities
- Ensure regular on‑site and offshore vessel presence to support the project team, overseeing construction and vessel mobilisation activities, and ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing standards.
- Manage and empower the SSEN project team, working collaboratively with external contractors to ensure we deliver project excellence and uphold our promises.
- Embod the SSE Safety Culture and core leadership values, showing a supportive and proactive approach to safety management.
- Take responsibility for monitoring schedule, budget and cost, supporting project reporting requirements and contract administration.
- Take line management and mentoring responsibility for your direct reports to ensure they perform their required duties and are given all available opportunity to develop.
- Deliver the refinement and execution of projects and packages, ensuring that these are delivered safely and on time while meeting cost and quality targets.
Qualifications
- A proven track record of leading and safely delivering projects or programmes of work to cost, schedule and quality in the Transmission, Subsea Construction, Energy, or other regulated industry.
- An engineering or project management qualification/degree with experience (firsthand, equivalent or transferable) relating to subsea cable installation activities such as pull‑ins, lay, trenching/burial, jointing, crossings, landfall works, HDDs, testing and commissioning.
- Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Commercially astute, with sound knowledge and experience of negotiating, administering, and managing NEC Contracts.
- A supportive, open and collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships across diverse teams.
