The successful candidate will be involved in the commissioning, testing, energisation and handover of electrical and mechanical systems associated with a large rotating plant and grid connection project. This role would suit someone with strong experience across power generation, substations, grid infrastructure, synchronous condensers, generators, turbines, or similar high-voltage energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the commissioning and testing of synchronous condenser equipment and associated systems.
• Carry out pre-commissioning, functional testing, system checks and energisation activities.
• Work closely with site management, engineering, construction and client teams to ensure safe and efficient commissioning delivery.
• Review commissioning procedures, test packs, permits, method statements and technical documentation.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning and start-up activities.
• Ensure all commissioning works are completed in line with project specifications, safety standards and quality requirements.
• Assist with punch list management, system walkdowns and handover documentation.
• Support mechanical completion, readiness checks and handover from construction into commissioning.
• Ensure accurate reporting of progress, issues, risks and completed activities.
• Maintain a strong focus on HSE, permit compliance and safe systems of work at all times.
Requirements
• Previous experience as a Commissioning Engineer on energy, power generation, substation, HV, grid or industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of commissioning processes, test documentation and system handover.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics and commissioning procedures.
• Experience working on live construction or energisation environments.
• Strong knowledge of HSE procedures, permits and site safety requirements.
• Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple project teams.
• Right to work in the UK.
