About us

Social Tech Trust (STT) is a UK foundation supporting technology ventures addressing social and environmental challenges. The Trust shares elements of its finance and operational infrastructure with Social Tech Ventures (STV), an independent early-stage venture fund it has helped to establish. We operate as a lean, high-performing team, working with external providers (e.g. bookkeepers, accountants, fund administrators, and advisors) to ensure strong financial management, governance, and operational discipline.

About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Finance and Operations Associate to run and take responsibility for day-to-day finance and operational processes across Social Tech Trust and Social Tech Ventures, working closely with the CEO and external providers. This is a practical, execution-focused role. You will be responsible for ensuring that finance and operations run reliably and accurately, while improving processes over time.

The role works closely with the CEO to ensure finance and operations are well-managed, responsive, and aligned with organisational priorities. The role is suited to someone who is comfortable working independently, taking responsibility for outcomes, and operating in a lean environment.

Key responsibilities

Financial operations

• Manage payments, expenses, payroll, and pensions

• Maintain accurate financial records across systems (e.g. Xero, fund platforms)

• Ensure transactions are recorded, reconciled, and traceable

• Maintain visibility over cash positions and financial activity

Financial tracking and reporting

• Maintain clear tracking of financial activity across both organisations

• Support month-end processes and preparation for audit

• Ensure consistency across internal records and external outputs

• Assist with preparation of management accounts and reporting materials

Coordination of providers

• Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for finance providers (bookkeepers, accountants, auditors, fund administrators)

• Review outputs and ensure accuracy and alignment

• Resolve issues and ensure follow-through

Additional responsibilities (STV-related)

• Support fund-related financial flows (e.g. capital calls, distributions)

• Ensure alignment between fund systems and financial records

• Support investor-related financial reporting processes

• Coordinate with fund administrators and relevant providers

Process ownership and improvement

• Run processes day-to-day and improve them over time

• Document workflows so they can be maintained and scaled

• Build simple, reliable operating routines

Other

Given the evolving nature of the organisation, you may be asked to take on additional responsibilities aligned with finance and operations
