General Requirements
The Compliance Manager supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of governance processes within the UK affiliate, ensuring that activities involving Medical, Commercial, and cross-functional teams are conducted in a consistent, compliant, and well-documented manner.
Working cross-functionally, the role coordinates SOPs, compliance training, approval processes, Medical Information, and transparency requirements, enabling effective and scalable execution of affiliate activities.
Specific Responsibilities
Medical Governance Processes
- Support implementation and day-to-day operation of governance processes across Medical, Commercial, and cross-functional activities
- Coordinate workflows to ensure activities align with internal processes and external requirements
- Maintain oversight of governance activities and support consistency across teams
SOP and Process Management
- Draft, maintain, and continuously improve SOPs and working practices for Medical-led and associated cross-functional activities
- Translate regulatory and industry requirements into practical, fit-for-purpose processes
- Manage document control, including versioning, formatting, and archiving
- Coordinate SOP review cycles to ensure documentation remains current and aligned
Compliance Training
- Coordinate and manage Medical compliance training (e.g. ABPI Code, internal processes, governance frameworks)
- Maintain training matrices and track completion across relevant stakeholders
- Support onboarding of new starters into Medical governance processes
- Contribute to identification of training needs and continuous improvement initiatives
Material Review and Approval Process
- Manage the review and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements
- Ensure documentation and approvals are appropriately recorded and maintained
- Support certification of materials (e.g. AQP where applicable) in line with internal governance requirements and applicable codes
Transparency and Compliance Controls
- Coordinate the Transfer of Value (ToV) process across Medical, Commercial, and Finance
- Maintain oversight of data, documentation, and approvals to ensure completeness
- Support reconciliation across systems to ensure accuracy and consistency with timely and compliant working
Audit and Inspection Readiness
- Maintain organised and accessible documentation to support audit readiness
- Support preparation for internal and external audits or inspections
- Track and support closure of actions arising from reviews
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong organisational capability with a structured, process-driven approach
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Effective cross-functional communication and stakeholder management
- Substantial experience in Compliance, Medical Affairs operations, or a related function within the pharmaceutical industry including hands-on responsibility for governance, SOPs, or process management.
- Strong working knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice, with experience applying requirements to SOPs and governance processes
- Experience of acting as an Appropriately Qualified Person (AQP) desirable
