About the Role
Staffline Recruitment Ireland are currently recruiting Residential Care Workers to join an innovative children's residential service in the Dromore area.
This service provides therapeutic, person-centred care for young people aged 12-18 who may have experienced trauma and present with challenging behaviours. The aim is to support them in a safe, structured environment and help them transition to more independent living.
This is a rewarding but challenging role, requiring resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support young people using trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
- Build positive, trusting relationships and promote emotional well-being
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Manage and respond to challenging behaviours (verbal and physical)
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and daily record keeping
- Apply safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Liaise with social services, health professionals, and community agencies
- Take lead responsibility on shift when required
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Youth Work, Social Work, Level 3 Health & Social Care, Youth Work, or related field
- Open to AYE Social Workers
- Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice (training provided)
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- Strong communication and report writing skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Full UK Driving Licence
- NISCC registration (or willingness to obtain registration)
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Access NI check
Desirable
- Registered with relevant professional body
- Experience in residential or supported living environments

Working Pattern
- 37 hours per week on a rota basis
- Includes 12-hour shifts, days, nights, weekends & sleep-ins

Important Information
This role involves working in a high-support environment where young people may become dysregulated. Staff must be able to remain calm and respond appropriately to both verbal and physical challenges.
