Overview

This post is to provide, develop and expand services including High Dependency Care, Maternal Critical Care, Gynaecology (Reproductive Medicine, Gynecological Oncology, Robotic Surgeries) and Obstetrics at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide, develop and expand services including High Dependency Care, Maternal Critical Care, Gynaecology (Reproductive Medicine, Gynecological Oncology, Robotic Surgeries) and Obstetrics at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
  • Teach and train junior anaesthetic staff and other groups within the Trust.
  • Contribute to clinical commitment to the Trust’s Main Delivery Suite, including elective and emergency obstetric anaesthesia.
  • Participate in Society of Mersey Obstetric Anaesthesia and Obstetric Anaesthesia Association activities.
  • Collaborate closely with anaesthetic, obstetric and midwifery teams in a tertiary referral centre for complicated obstetric problems.
  • Develop high‑dependency care and routine obstetric anaesthesia and analgesic tasks; contribute to teaching and research.
  • Provide 1.5 PA (6hrs) of Supporting Professional Activity Time (SPA) for professional development and revalidation, with further SPAs granted following a job plan agreement.

Qualifications

  • Specialist Register in Anaesthesia and hold the FRCA or equivalent.
  • Recent extensive knowledge and experience of high‑risk obstetric anaesthesia.
  • Experience of anaesthesia for high‑dependency care, especially obstetrics and gynaecology.
  • Ability to participate actively in relevant professional societies.
