Job Overview

Consultant Psychiatrist – Ruby Ward, The Crystal Centre, Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex CM1 7LF.

EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly dedicated consultant to lead the 17-bed functional older adult unit. The role is full‑time within the Older Adult Functional Inpatient Mental Health Service, serving Chelmsford, Maldon and Braintree. The ward provides assessment and treatment for older adults, typically aged 70+ or adults with significant frailty requiring inpatient care for functional mental illness.

Main Duties of the Job

Post holder will have responsibility for the clinical care of patients admitted to the inpatient unit, working closely with the team and ward manager to ensure the provision of an effective service.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of application. The trust supports continuing professional development and offers opportunities for teaching and research.

Applicants must hold a Certificate of Sponsorship, be able to provide professional references covering the last three years of employment, and pay the initial DBS check cost, which will be deducted from first salary.

COVID-19 vaccination is required for all staff directly employed in a care setting or deployed to a CQC-registered care home.
