The Role
As a Consultant, you will play a key role in both generating new business opportunities and delivering executive search assignments. You will work closely with clients and candidates throughout the recruitment lifecycle, ensuring a high-quality, consultative experience that reflects Neemar Search’s reputation within the sector.
This is a relationship-led role requiring strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the ability to build credibility with senior leaders across social housing.
Key Responsibilities
Research, Market Mapping & Candidate Identification
- Conduct detailed market mapping across the social housing sector, including housing associations, local authorities, ALMOs and consultancy organisations.
- Identify and engage senior-level candidates including Chief Executives, Executive Directors and senior operational leaders using targeted search methodologies.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for retained executive search assignments.
- Carry out passive candidate engagement and headhunting activity with professionalism and discretion.
- Ensure all candidate interactions reflect Neemar Search’s values and reputation within the market.
Candidate Management & Search Delivery
- Manage candidate relationships throughout the executive search process, providing a high-touch and consultative experience.
- Conduct in-depth candidate conversations to assess leadership capability, values alignment and sector experience.
- Support candidates through interview and assessment stages, ensuring effective preparation and stakeholder engagement.
- Coordinate search processes efficiently, maintaining strong communication with clients and candidates throughout.
- Prepare candidate reports, market insights and assignment documentation to a high professional standard.
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Proactively identify, engage and develop new client relationships within the social housing sector.
- Generate and qualify executive search opportunities through targeted outreach, networking and market engagement.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, market intelligence and lead generation activity.
- Build confidence in Neemar Search’s executive search offering and convert opportunities into retained assignments.
- Develop and maintain a strong personal network of sector stakeholders, hiring managers and senior leaders.
- Attend sector conferences, events and networking opportunities to enhance market visibility and brand presence.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience within recruitment, executive search, business development or consultative sales.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to build relationships with senior professionals and decision-makers.
- Commercially aware with confidence in identifying and developing business opportunities.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Professional, credible and confident in a client-facing environment.
Desirable
- Experience within executive search.
- Understanding of retained recruitment methodologies.
- Previous experience engaging with senior executives or board-level stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the UK housing sector and its regulatory landscape.
