Job Summary
A regulated financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager Contractor with strong payments and e-money sector expertise to support and strengthen its UK compliance function.
Reporting to senior compliance leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the business operates in line with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role will support the development, implementation, and oversight of compliance frameworks across a fast-paced and evolving payments environment.
The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including product, operations, engineering, legal, risk, finance, and marketing to help identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks while supporting business growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess regulatory developments and emerging compliance risks.
- Support and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and ongoing compliance monitoring activities.
- Support AML, financial crime, outsourcing, complaints, and governance oversight.
- Contribute to compliance reviews, audits, and risk assessments.
- Deliver compliance guidance and training to internal stakeholders.
- Support management reporting for senior leadership and governance committees.
- Review and provide oversight on customer communications, marketing materials, and product compliance considerations.
- Help promote and embed a strong compliance culture across the organisation.
- Assist with third-party and outsourced service oversight activities.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ compliance or regulatory experience within regulated financial services.
- Strong experience within payments and/or e-money environments.
- Knowledge of UK financial services regulations, AML requirements, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience engaging with financial regulators.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
- Experience supporting compliance monitoring, risk assessments, and governance activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline.
- Professional compliance certifications such as CAMS or equivalent compliance qualifications.
- Experience within high-growth or international financial services organisations.
