US Senior Tax Manager, Private Equity Fund

London‑based team dedicated to delivering US tax services to EMEIA‑based Wealth Asset Management clients.
Your key responsibilities
The role will primarily involve overseeing private equity fund US tax compliance engagements for clients with appropriate consideration of risk, operational, and tax technical issues. You will research US tax legislation and explain the impact to asset management clients, coach junior staff both onshore and offshore, share knowledge with the team, and coordinate multiple engagement teams’ schedules and deadlines.
Skills and attributes for success
- Proven track record of leading US federal tax compliance work for asset management clients.
- Deep understanding of US tax issues affecting asset managers/executives, funds, holding vehicles, including partnership allocations, carry waterfall, equalization, etc.
- Experience across a range of US tax issues from fund activities such as fund formation, asset acquisitions and disposals, reorganisations, and management structures.
- Experienced as the primary client contact and trusted advisor.
- Committed to high‑quality work and effective project delivery.
- Enthusiasm for coaching and developing team members and the ability to teach or assist in firm in‑house trainings.
- Professionalism, initiative, and confidence in managing complex engagements.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- US CPA license, or Enrolled Agent license.
- Knowledge of partnership and U.S. international tax concepts and related tax laws.
- Experience with analysing US federal tax issues applicable to partnerships and other flow‑through entities applicable to asset management clients.
- Extensive experience in reviewing partnership tax returns and Schedules K‑1/3.
- In‑depth knowledge of Go Systems tax preparation software or similar system.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Ability to liaise directly with non‑tax stakeholders at your clients to explain US tax concepts at a practical level.
- Knowledge of outbound US taxation issues and concepts, e.g., PFIC, CFC, CFP.
- Knowledge of common management company structures and their US tax considerations.
- Knowledge of EMEIA asset management industry structure and entity type and their distinct tax characteristics.
- Asset management industry experience and product knowledge.
- Experience in delivering technical and soft skills training to junior team members.
