Lead Software Engineer (Golang) – Real Time Data Platform
This is a hands‑on Lead role focused on designing and building distributed backend systems that ingest, process and serve high‑throughput data, for a well established FinTech.
The platform is already live, but there’s a clear need to evolve parts of the architecture to improve scalability, performance and reliability. This is where the role comes in.
The Role
You’ll join a small, experienced engineering group and take ownership of critical backend services, with a particular focus on Golang.
You’ll work on:
- Processing and distributing high volumes of real‑time data
- Improving performance and reducing latency across services
- Evolving existing architecture toward more efficient patterns
What They’re Looking For
- Strong experience building backend systems in Golang
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and event‑driven architectures
- Experience working with high‑throughput / low‑latency systems
- Comfortable owning services end‑to‑end, from design through to production
- Ability to identify problems in existing systems and drive improvements
Tech Environment
- Legacy backend stack is mainly in Node, which they are transitioning to Go
- Event‑driven architecture, messaging systems and cloud‑based infrastructure, currently migrating to GCP
- A pragmatic engineering culture focused on delivery and ownership
Additional Info
- This is an in‑office role (London)
- You’ll be working closely with senior engineers and leadership on critical platform components
- Strong compensation package including base, bonus and meaningful equity that is liquid
