Job Description:

3 months fixed term post to cover sabbatical

Providing senior acute care to Paediatric and neonatal patients across the Paediatric Ward, Children’s Assessment Unit, Paediatric ED, SCBU and outpatient settings.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role is to provide 1:8 Consultant on call cover enabling senior decision making and support for the Speciality Doctors within Paediatrics and SCBU, whilst also providing support to the Paediatric Emergency Department.

When not providing on call provision the consultant will be working closely with the Paediatric outpatients team to see and review new and follow up patients in clinic.

The post holder will work within Paediatrics providing medical care for children and youngpeople up to the age of 18yrs. The Paediatric department is made up of the Childrens Ward,the Paediatric Assessment Unit and the Childrens Day ward. The Childrens Ward has 10beds, including one Higher Dependency bed, and co-located next to the inpatient ward is a 3bedded Paediatric Assessment Unit. The day unit has 6 beds which are used for day casesurgical procedures as well as food challenges and other day case procedures. There areexcellent facilities within the department. Including a large playroom shared by all threeareas, where activities are overseen by our play therapist.
