Senior Fire Engineer – Foster + Partners
Location: London
As part of the Fire Safety Team, you will apply evidence‑based fire engineering principles, guide project teams through risk‑based decision‑making, contribute to technical reviews and support the practice in maintaining industry‑leading fire safety standards throughout all project stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a proactive, holistic and risk‑based approach to fire safety across complex design projects.
- Provide fire engineering advice to architectural and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review fire strategies, reports and design documentation from both internal and external contributors.
- Develop and communicate fire safety design options and identify project‑specific constraints and opportunities.
- Support the growth, visibility and technical development of the Fire Safety Team.
Qualifications
- Chartered (or working toward Chartered) Engineer status with strong fire engineering experience.
- Proven capability in qualitative/quantitative risk assessment, deterministic analysis and related safety methods.
- Strong understanding of international codes, regulations and guidance frameworks.
- Degree in a relevant engineering, architectural or technical discipline.
- Experience interpreting design information and producing clear fire safety documentation.
- Proficiency with tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Desirable: experience with advanced modelling methods such as CFD, FEA or probabilistic analysis.
