Job Description

As an experienced public health engineer working at Senior, Principal or Associate level, you will play a key role in delivering a range of prestigious projects across WSP’s Property and Buildings business, primarily based in the Bristol office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead public health engineering delivery for mission critical facilities in aviation, healthcare, and defence sectors.
  • Represent WSP to clients, ensuring innovative, sustainable solutions.
  • Incorporate WSP’s sustainability, net zero carbon, digital design, modern methods of construction and smart systems philosophies into design work.
  • Manage junior engineers and contribute to feasibility studies, concept, scheme, detailed design, and construction support phases.
  • Oversee technical, cost, and programme elements of project delivery.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of UK public health building services design, including relevant standards, codes, and regulations at Senior, Principal or Associate level.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to manage junior engineers.
  • Experience applying technical judgment and resourcefulness to all project phases.
  • Client‑facing experience, understanding and delivering client engineering needs.
  • Capability to manage technical, cost, and programme aspects of projects.
  • Ability to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC).

Technical Knowledge Areas

  • Building Water Services Design – domestic hot and cold water, greywater recycling, rainwater harvesting.
  • Building Sanitary Drainage Design.
  • Building Surface Water Drainage Design.
  • Building Fire Suppression Systems Design.
  • Building Gas Services Design.
  • Building Medical Gas Systems Design.

Location

Bristol office – easy commuting via Bristol Temple Meads Train Station (10‑minute walk) and proximity to Bristol City Centre.
