Java Software Engineer

A leading public sector organisation is seeking a Software Developer with strong backend engineering experience to join a fast-paced delivery team working on modern digital services.

The role is primarily backend-focused, with the majority of development centred around Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture, alongside some lightweight frontend development using GDS-aligned tooling.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable Java/Spring Boot microservices
• Work with containerised applications deployed via Docker
• Contribute to high-quality, agile engineering practices
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary delivery teams

Key Requirements

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience building and supporting microservices architectures
• Familiarity with GDS design standards and frontend tooling
• Ability to work effectively in agile environments
• Available to interview and start at short notice

Additional Information

• SC clearance eligibility required
• Hybrid working with 1 day per week onsite in Manchester
