What you’ll do

The Senior Manager plays a key support role in evaluating and executing multi‑billion dollar M&A transactions that are high profile and strategically important for Vodafone Group. The team has played an integral part in reshaping the group, executing more than US$250 bn of M&A transactions that have transformed the group’s portfolio in Europe and Africa, market position through consolidation (e.g. merger with Three in the UK), convergence strategy and infrastructure (e.g. creation of Vantage towers) and enhanced capabilities.

  • M&A project work on all aspects of evaluating transactions including negotiation, valuation, due diligence, internal approvals and interaction with Legal, Regulatory, Tax, Treasury and Planning departments within Vodafone. Produce analysis to enable informed decision‑making on merits, risks and implications of an acquisition or disposal by senior management and the Board. Prepare and review Due Diligence data rooms and reports.
  • Build and operate tools such as detailed valuation and financial effects models for potential acquisitions and disposals. Responsible for the quantitative aspects of an M&A opportunity, including the business plan of the target, the valuation, potential synergies and assessment of financial effects on Vodafone Group.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date valuation scenario analysis on specific M&A targets and build/maintain a knowledge‑management system to track sector transactions and valuation multiples.
  • Liaise with advisers and counterparties to produce transaction‑related materials.
  • Develop material and documentation for projects and meetings, including internal presentations and approval documents for the Group Board and M&A steering committee on proposed transactions; prepare Working Group lists, ‘Insider’ reports, reports to senior management on M&A activity and other analyses on an ad‑hoc basis.

Who you are

  • Practical experience of business and/or financial modelling in Excel.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with ability to effectively challenge more senior colleagues.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills and management skills.
  • Strong analytical, numeric mind.
  • Ability to deal with diverse cultures and work effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Degree qualified in Economics, Finance or Business (useful) plus accounting background and/or MBA (useful).
  • 4+ years Investment Banking, Private Equity, Accounting or Finance/Strategy/M&A in a corporate background.
  • Relevant experience preferably in finance in the telecom industry or investment banking.
  • Public M&A, IPOs, debt and equity capital markets experience.
  • Experience of evaluating, negotiating and executing M&A.
  • Experience of deal integration planning or post‑deal integration execution.
  • Chartered accountant qualification or equivalent.
