Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Clinical Pharmacist to join the Kent and Medway Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service (CYPMHS). This role offers professional development and a good work‑life balance. The pharmacist will support children and young people within community settings and occasionally inpatient units across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a high‑quality clinical pharmacy service within CYPMHS, optimising patient outcomes and supporting care pathways.
  • Contribute to improved health outcomes by taking a holistic approach to care and ensuring safe, effective use of medicines.
  • Engage directly with children, young people and families to incorporate their views into care decisions.
  • Deliver expert medicines information, education and training, and group and one‑to‑one support.
  • Develop clinical guidelines and protocols, and collaborate with Consultant Psychiatrists and Non‑Medical Prescribers to promote safe and cost‑efficient prescribing.
  • Support the wider Trust Pharmacy Team, including community lead pharmacists.
  • Promote improvements in the quality, safety and cost‑effectiveness of medicines use, supporting holistic management of clinical conditions across CYPMHS.
  • Line‑manage Pharmacy Technicians within CYPMHS.
  • Participate in the clinical pharmacist on‑call rota.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold (or working towards) an independent prescribing qualification.
  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in pharmacy.
  • Possess experience in mental health pharmacy.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car/vehicle for business purposes (unless exempt under Equality Act 2010).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to community‑centred care.

Additional Information

The base location will be agreed following interview and may involve periodic travel to other sites across Kent and Medway.
