Band 7 REACTT Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist
New opportunity – developmental B6 to 7 post
Are you looking to progress to a Band 7 role specialising in the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care but not feeling quite ready?
We are excited to be able to offer a new developmental post, which will provide training and support to an experienced band 6 candidate who feel ready to progress their career. The role will transition to Band 7 following completion of competencies within a 12‑month timeframe.
The position will be at Barnet Hospital and become part of our integrated Rapid Emergency and Acute Care Therapy Team (REACTT).
The person applying for this position should be flexible and able to work in the fast‑paced areas of the Emergency Department, Adult Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Floor and Clinics.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who is keen to develop their specialist clinical knowledge and management skills. The successful candidate should be forward thinking and pro‑active with excellent organisational and clinical skills within the fast‑paced Emergency Department, to facilitate admission avoidance and safe discharges. Good communication skills and the ability to make autonomous decisions under pressure are also required.
Main duties of the job
- Providing clinical leadership to a highly specialised MDT service with a focus on admission avoidance, frailty, quality improvement & providing exceptional patient assessment and care
- Supporting the learning and development of the therapy team
- Providing training to the wider multidisciplinary team
- Co‑ordinating and support prioritisation and caseload management
- Leading & participating in Quality Improvement projects and in setting new service directions
We are a trans‑disciplinary, supportive & dynamic team who work closely with the wider MDT in Emergency & Acute medicine to provide comprehensive and effective patient care & intervention.
This includes multi‑disciplinary working from the point of admission at triage and ambulance handover with nursing staff and paramedics through to comprehensive geriatric assessment and complex discharge planning with Speciality Consultants and community partners.
Good communication skills and motivation to encourage and facilitate best practice is required.

- Current H.C.P.C. Registration
- Diploma/Degree/Masters in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy

Experience
- Evidence of C.P.D in relevant areas of practice
- Post registration experience relevant to clinical area
- Extensive experience working in an acute health setting and complex discharge planning.
- Experience in supervising/teaching staff/student/volunteer
- Relevant other associated work experience
- Experience of involvement in audit
- Experience in A+E
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to a range of audiences
- Demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills and management of complex cases
- Ability to relate clinical knowledge to practice
- Able to work independently as an autonomous practitioner
- Ability to work as part of a team including MDT
- Good organisational skills
- Reflect & critically approve own performance.
- Ability to lead and motivate self and team
