Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Clinical Psychologist with expertise in neuropsychology to join our newly developed Community Rehabilitation Team. The service supports Community Mental Health Services across Bradford and Craven, focusing on individuals living with complex psychosis. You will deliver specialist, evidence‑based psychological assessment and therapy, make autonomous clinical decisions, and provide strong clinical and professional leadership within a diverse multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include service development, supervision, consultation, teaching and research to shape high‑quality, trauma‑informed and culturally responsive care.

Main Duties of the Job

• Provide specialist assessment, formulation and intervention for adults with complex mental health needs, particularly psychosis, using a trauma‑informed and culturally sensitive approach.• Deliver and supervise individual and group psychological therapy, including neuropsychological assessment and interventions.• Offer training, reflective supervision and consultation to the wider multidisciplinary team and partner services.• Contribute to service development, research programmes and publication of relevant research.• Actively promote health equity and culturally responsive practice within the clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in clinical or applied psychology, accredited by the BPS or holding a BPS Statement of Equivalence.
  • Eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychologist status.
  • Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
  • Post‑qualification training in a specialised area of practice (e.g., neuropsychology, CBT, DBT, therapeutic modalities).
  • Leadership training and advanced clinical supervision training.
  • Teaching qualification or equivalent experience in clinical practice.
  • Training in trauma‑informed care.
  • Master’s or postgraduate diploma/certificate in Clinical Neuropsychology.

Training

  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience

  • Significant experience in relevant mental health practice.
  • Application of evidence‑based specialist psychological therapies within individual and group modalities.
  • Involvement in innovative clinical practice and leadership of clinical research programmes.
  • Publication of research relevant to psychological therapy.
  • Leading or participating in regular reflective practice on themes such as anti‑racism, power dynamics, health inequality and cultural curiosity.
  • Experience working within a trauma‑informed framework.

Knowledge

  • Clinical knowledge relevant to a specific clinical pathway(s).
  • Ability to explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress, both directly with patients and indirectly through supervision or case reviews.
  • Knowledge and understanding of wider cultural and religious models of mental health.
  • Commitment to the ethos of the service and multidisciplinary team working.
  • Commitment to working creatively and flexibly to provide psychological therapy to individuals, families and systems from all backgrounds, reducing inequalities in access and outcomes.
  • Awareness of racial, cultural, sexuality, neurodiversity and gender issues and their impact on mental health and therapy.
  • Openness to working with diversity and difference and addressing issues such as power and safety in the therapeutic relationship and within teams.
