Lead Sprinkler Design Engineer – LPCB Qualified
Salary/Package: £65,000 – £70,000 basic + 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) + Benefits
Location: Aylesbury
Permanent Position (Hybrid)
I’m working with a Level 3 LPCB-approved sprinkler contractor that is continuing to grow steadily through 2026/27. As a privately owned business, they’ve retained a strong, grounded culture while building a solid project pipeline, and they are now looking to bring in a Lead Sprinkler Design Engineer to strengthen their design capability.
This isn’t just another delivery role. The successful hire will be a key part of the business, working closely with senior stakeholders and playing a central role in how projects are designed, coordinated, and delivered moving forward. There is a genuine opportunity here to shape the design function as it grows.
The position offers a flexible hybrid setup, typically one day in the office with the rest split between home working and site visits, giving you the autonomy to manage your workload effectively while staying connected to projects on the ground.
From a progression perspective, they are keen to fast‑track the right individual into a design management position, leading a team of engineers as the department expands. If stepping into leadership is something you’re aiming for, this is a clear and supported route rather than a vague future possibility.
Key Requirement
LPCB Basic Exam PASSED (essential)
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the preparation of sprinkler system designs across a broad range of applications, including large works, small works, LPC Rules, NFPA, and FM standards
- Taking ownership of design responsibility throughout the full project lifecycle
- Producing high‑quality technical documentation, installation drawings, and coordinated models
- Carrying out FHC calculations and ensuring accuracy across all design outputs
- Undertaking site surveys to support design development and ensure practical feasibility
- Ensuring full compliance with relevant design standards, regulations, and project specifications
Overall, this role would suit someone who enjoys the technical side of design but is also looking to step into a position where their input has a visible impact on both projects and the wider business.
