Overview

We are looking for an Engineering Workplace Coach to be part of the AMRC Training Centre Team. You will coordinate on‑and off‑the‑job learning and assessment of our engineering and manufacturing advanced, higher and degree apprentices. You will set learning targets, assessments and support apprentices to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the apprenticeship standard.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out initial onboarding reviews to ensure that apprentices complete a skills scan, understand their training plan and can achieve the programme.
  • Provide high‑quality information, advice and guidance to learners to support their career development.
  • Develop and deliver effective teaching, coaching and assessment practices using a blended learning approach.
  • Conduct fully compliant and timely tri‑partite learner progress reviews and assessments in the workplace, and facilitate meaningful discussions with learners and employers.
  • Monitor that all learners demonstrate weekly active learning and track Off The Job percentage to keep the AMRC Training Centre compliant.
  • Ensure apprentices meet agreed practical period end dates and the end‑point assessment by the apprenticeship end date.
  • Promote involvement in the personal and professional development curriculum linked to the apprenticeship standard.
  • Provide information on learner progress to employers and address issues promptly; flag at‑risk learners to the management team and support teams.
  • Ensure curriculum assessments and reviews meet the AMRC quality standard.
  • Capture, evaluate and feed learner feedback into the Self‑Assessment Review process for continual improvement.
  • Ensure apprenticeship accounts are monitored and kept up to date.
  • Attend monthly standardisation meetings, update meetings with the Workplace Curriculum Manager and relevant training sessions.
  • Participate in open events at the Training Centre, up to about six a year, in the evenings.
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Level 6 qualification in an engineering or related discipline.
  • Significant experience of technical work in a mechatronics, maintenance or machining engineering setting.
  • Assessor qualification, teaching qualification, internal quality assurance qualification, or willingness to work towards these qualifications.
  • Experience of providing excellent advice, guidance and support to ensure learners succeed.
  • Strong customer interaction skills, including oral and written communication; ability to communicate with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Competence in using IT such as laptops, tablets, smartphones and related software.
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to organise work effectively and meet key priorities and organisational KPIs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a successful team.
  • Creative problem‑solving skills with appreciation of longer‑term implications.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Ability to organise assessment resources and related work activities, including travel to employer sites.

Additional Information

Grade: 7.

Salary: £38,784 – £47,389.

Work arrangement: Full‑time.
