Business Support is key to the success of our Children’s Services because our Business Support teams are there, making sure things run smoothly so that frontline colleagues can deliver for children and families in the community. This background work requires dedicated colleagues who take pride in their role and find purpose in the work they do.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support Social Workers as a first point of contact, ensuring children, families, partners and stakeholders receive a professional and knowledgeable response to enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Support Practitioners’ workload, convene and attend meetings, including statutory multi‑agency meetings, coordinating the circulation of agendas and relevant papers, taking and distributing appropriate notes, minutes and actions.
  • Complete a range of administrative tasks.
  • Accurately input and maintain information systems, ensuring children’s, families’ and system records are kept up to date.
  • Undertake financial transactions as directed, including placing orders for services and equipment, and potentially using Purchasing Cards.
  • Monitor and maintain financial records.
  • Maintain knowledge of legislation, policies, guidance, processes and best practice relating to the service area.

The Ideal Candidate

Full training in the use of our systems and procedures will be given.

We will be looking for you to:

  • Have Level III in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Interpret and accurately input and retrieve data.
  • Have experience providing administrative support at meetings, including note taking.
  • Have good written and oral communication skills at all levels – the role involves liaising with a range of professionals and members of the public.
  • Have sensitive and attentive listening skills and be able to accurately record meeting outcomes.
  • Show a flexible approach and respond positively to changes in work allocation at short notice.
  • Have numerical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate good time‑management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to work independently.

Flexibility is also required to address business needs, and we may require you to transfer to alternative teams within the service following appropriate consultation.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 8th June 2026.
