Role Summary

The Venue Transport Deputy Manager will support the delivery of venue transport operations, acting as the designated deputy to the Venue Transport Manager, assuming operational leadership in their absence. Ensure transport plans are executed as designed, managing real‑time issues, following escalation protocols and representing the transport function area in operational and stakeholder meetings. Reporting directly to the Venue Transport Manager, the role will be based at the Scottish Events Campus (SEC), overseeing transport operations across the precinct. This role is critical to ensuring operational continuity and excellence during Games Time, acting as a key link between planning and delivery at venue level.

Working Arrangements

The role will commence in the Organising Company’s Glasgow city centre office, with visits required to competition venues. The location for the role will transition to be based at a competition venue as we approach the Games. The role will be contracted for 40 hours per week, with requirements to be in the office aligned to the Organising Company’s planned working pattern. All travel to your place of work will be at your own cost. During the Games operational period, shift patterns are likely to be required which could include weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the on‑site transport lead in the absence of the Venue Transport Manager, ensuring continuity of operations, decision‑making and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure all transport operations are delivered in line with agreed venue transport plans and operational concepts, maintaining alignment with the overall transport strategy.
  • Support operational delivery of all venue transport planning requirements including venue transport plan, load zone operational plan, signage and venue parking plan.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as OC Transport Team, Venue Management, Overlay, City Operations, Venue and Local Authority representatives as required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all key project timelines and milestones are met, including but not limited to local policing, authorities, venue management and suppliers in alignment with OC‑led engagement and governance principles.
  • Act as the main transport point of contact to provide transport advice and support to functional areas, staff, external suppliers and contractors, as required.
  • Assist in maintaining up‑to‑date and accurate records, documentation and complete daily reports.
  • Attend venue management daily briefings as a transport representative, when required.
  • Assist with the management, motivation, training and support of transport volunteers.
  • Support the continued monitoring of risk mitigation strategies in accordance with Risk Management Plans related to venue transport.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing, solutions‑focused environment during Games Time, ensuring a seamless transport experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience

  • Proven experience in venue transport management or transport operations for large‑scale sporting or major events.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams and client groups.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams including those made up of contractors and volunteers.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, collaborative event or project environments.
  • Good knowledge of Glasgow’s transport network and its venues is desirable.
