M&S Store Detective – 45 hours per week, 5 days per week (including weekends).

Location: Liverpool, Bidston Moss, Aintree, Prescot Cables, Cheshire Oaks, Widnes, Chester & surrounding areas.
Pay: £15.91 per hour.
Candidate must have 5 years trackable working history in the UK and a valid SIA frontline licence.
Job Overview
Our client is the UK’s premier high‑street retailer. As a Store Detective, you will operate across their network of stores and use your observation skills to help prevent theft of stock. The Detective team’s work is crucial in identifying, apprehending and prosecuting criminals who target our client.
Main Duties
- Observe, deter and arrest those taking part in criminal activity in line with the Theft Act.
- Follow the ASCONE process.
- Work with SOC CCTV operators to identify and stop offenders.
- Maintain liaison with police forces and other crime‑prevention partners to stay up‑to‑date with local crime trends.
- Build a local network to identify and disrupt crime.
- Report incidents accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Occasionally attend court to provide evidence.
What We Are Looking For
- Adaptable and able to handle a varied workday across regional stores.
- Remain calm under pressure and react quickly in challenging situations.
- Experience in customer‑facing roles with a strong customer‑service background.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, preferably with a GCSE (equivalent) in English.
- Proactive, forward‑thinking, and eager to improve existing practices.
- Self‑motivated with a can‑do attitude and a drive to learn.
- Positive, outgoing personality and a desire to be part of a strong team.
- Essential: SIA licence – store‑detective experience highly desirable.
- Exceptional observational skills; ability to handle sensitive situations and make quick decisions.
- Confidence to challenge people when necessary.
