We’re looking for a commercially driven and ambitious Senior National Account Manager to take ownership of a key high-profile customer portfolio, driving sustainable and profitable growth across branded and own-label categories.

The Role
As Senior National Account Manager, you’ll be fully accountable for the commercial management and growth of a major customer account, leading all aspects of the relationship across sales, profitability, promotional strategy, and long-term business planning.
You’ll develop and deliver Joint Business Plans (JBPs), lead complex negotiations including annual terms, CPI, and promotional agreements, and identify opportunities to accelerate growth across both existing and new business areas.
Working cross-functionally with Category, Marketing, NPD, Supply Chain, and Finance teams, you’ll ensure best-in-class execution while driving strategic alignment between customer objectives and wider business goals.
This role may also include direct or indirect line management responsibility, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their leadership capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of a major customer account, delivering against Sales, Profit, Distribution, and NPD targets
- Develop, execute, and review strategic Joint Business Plans aligned to wider business objectives
- Drive profitable and sustainable growth through effective account management and commercial planning
- Lead customer negotiations including annual terms, CPI, promotions, new listings, and activation plans
- Own full customer P&L responsibility, managing trade investment and promotional spend effectively
- Deliver accurate forecasting, reporting, and commercial analysis with clear actionable insights
- Create and implement customer-specific promotional and shopper activation programmes aligned to marketing strategy
- Build and maintain strong senior-level relationships both internally and externally
- Collaborate cross-functionally across Category, Marketing, NPD, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure seamless execution
- Monitor market trends, customer strategy, and competitor activity to identify risks and opportunities
- Potentially manage or mentor junior commercial team members depending on account structure
About You
We’re looking for a commercially astute FMCG professional with a proven track record of managing and growing strategic retail accounts.

You’ll Ideally Have:
- Strong FMCG sales experience, ideally within a blue-chip environment
- Proven experience managing large customer accounts and Joint Business Plans
- Strong commercial acumen with full P&L management experience
- Experience negotiating annual agreements, promotions, and trade investment
- Background across branded and/or own-label products
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong negotiation and influencing capability
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- A highly analytical and results-driven mindset
- Experience building successful cross-functional relationships internally and externally
- Experience within chilled, ambient, or frozen food categories would be highly advantageous.
