The Role
As National Account Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day commercial management of your customer portfolio, owning relationships at buyer level and delivering against sales, profit, distribution, and activation targets.
You’ll be responsible for developing and executing Joint Business Plans (JBPs), managing full P&L accountability, and identifying opportunities to grow both existing and new business across your accounts.
Working closely with teams across Category, Marketing, NPD, Supply Chain, and Finance, you’ll play a key role in delivering best-in-class customer plans aligned to both customer and business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop key customer accounts, delivering against Sales, Profit, Distribution, and NPD targets
- Build, implement, and review Joint Business Plans aligned to wider business objectives
- Drive profitable sales growth through effective commercial planning and execution
- Lead customer negotiations including annual terms, CPI, promotions, and new listings
- Manage full customer P&L including trade investment and promotional spend
- Deliver accurate forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis with actionable insights
- Develop and execute promotional and shopper activation plans aligned to marketing strategy
- Build strong and lasting relationships across customer organisations and internal stakeholders
- Work cross-functionally with Category, Marketing, NPD, Logistics, and Finance teams to ensure seamless delivery
- Identify market trends, risks, opportunities, and competitor activity to drive commercial performance
About You
We’re looking for someone with strong FMCG commercial experience who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
You may currently be:
- A National Account Executive ready to take the next step into a NAM role
- An existing National Account Manager seeking a new challenge and greater ownership
You’ll Ideally Have:
- FMCG sales experience, ideally within a blue-chip environment
- Experience managing customer relationships and Joint Business Plans
- Strong negotiation and commercial planning skills
- Experience across branded and/or own-label products
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical capability and attention to detail
- High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- A results-driven mindset with the ability to identify and deliver growth opportunities
- The ability to build effective cross-functional relationships internally and externally
- Experience within chilled, ambient, or frozen food categories would be advantageous.
