We are hiring Mechanical Technician (Nuclear/High-Hazard / Vacuum Systems / Industrial Engineering)
Location : Abingdon, Oxfordshire
- Proven track record in the assembly, maintenance, and fault-finding of complex industrial systems, specifically involving vacuum, pressurized cooling, and electro-magnetic infrastructures within a fusion research OR Atomic OR Nuclear or heavy industrial environment.
- Must hold a Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with a completed apprenticeship, demonstrating the ability to supervise junior fitters and manage work packages with minimal direct oversight.
- Deep familiarity with high-heat-flux systems installed inside the vacuum vessel components, including center columns and TF circuits, alongside the installation and testing of high-precision mechanical hardware.
- Proficiency in modern manufacturing techniques and a functional understanding of interfacing electrical work within large-scale mechanical plant systems.
- Expert knowledge of Written Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), including the drafting of Risk Assessments/Method Statements (RAMS) and strict adherence to CDM 2015 Regulations in high-hazard environments
- Competency in compiling technical work packages and documenting rigorous maintenance/installation procedures to ensure system availability and operational efficiency.
