Most Associate-level roles involve joining an already established studio structure.

This one is about helping build the next one.

We’re working with a globally established architectural practice with a major international delivery presence, now entering an exciting new phase of growth within the UK market.

Backed by hundreds of architects, technicians and multidisciplinary professionals across international offices, the business is now establishing its long-term London operation… and they are now looking to make the first key senior hire within the studio.

Importantly, this is not a “business development” role.

Nor is it simply another technical delivery position.

It sits in the overlap between:

• technical leadership
• project oversight
• industry-facing relationship development
• operational strategy
• and long-term studio growth

For the right individual, there is a genuine pathway toward helping lead and grow the London studio within the short term.

What Makes This Different?

You won’t be joining a fully formed London office where systems, teams and delivery structures already exist.

You will be helping shape:

• how projects are delivered
• how the studio positions itself within the UK market
• how technical standards are maintained
• and ultimately how the London operation grows.

This is effectively the foundation hire.

The long-term ambition is for this individual to gradually help build a London team around them… with short-to-mid-term plans for a 10+ person studio as the UK operation expands.

Crucially, you would not be doing this alone.

Behind you sits a substantial international delivery engine with highly capable technical teams already delivering complex work globally.

The role is therefore less about personally producing every drawing package yourself… and more about:

• overseeing delivery quality
• coordinating outputs
• ensuring alignment with UK regulations and standards
• reviewing technical information
• and acting as the critical bridge between London and the wider international production teams.

The Technical Leadership Aspect…

This role will strongly suit someone who:

• understands how complex buildings are actually delivered
• has deep UK Building Regulations knowledge
• is highly confident reviewing technical information
• and can provide senior-level technical oversight and direction.

Whilst the wider production capability sits within the overseas teams, this individual will be responsible for helping ensure:

• technical quality
• coordination
• buildability
• and compliance with UK delivery standards.

As such, strong experience across:

• RIBA Stages 3 to 5
• consultant coordination
• technical package review
• contractor interface
• and multidisciplinary delivery management

…will be extremely important.

The business operates within a Revit (BIM)-led environment, therefore applicants should have demonstrable experience working within Revit-based project environments themselves - even if the role ultimately evolves into a more strategic, oversight and leadership-focused position over time.

A Day In The Life…

Part of the week may involve:

• reviewing technical packages and coordinated information
• overseeing consultant and multidisciplinary coordination
• working alongside international delivery teams
• ensuring outputs align with UK regulations and delivery standards
• advising on QA, technical strategy and project execution
• acting as the bridge between London and the wider international teams

Alongside this, the role intentionally creates space for:

• industry engagement
• strategic relationship development
• attending networking events
• reconnecting with existing contacts
• meeting developers, consultants and collaborators
• and helping establish the studio within the London market.

Importantly, the business actively wants to support this side of the role.

This is not: “do business development on top of your day job.”

It is viewed as a critical part of establishing the London studio properly and building trusted long-term industry relationships.

• an Associate Architect
• Senior Project Architect
• Technical Lead
• Executive Architect
• Delivery Lead
• or someone operating within a technically-led practice already.

Experience within executive architect / delivery-partner style environments would be particularly relevant.

Flexibility…

Our client is open-minded regarding structure and working arrangements and would consider individuals seeking flexibility, including candidates interested in reduced working weeks (e.g. 3 or 4 days), providing they can operate effectively within the role and wider studio ambitions.

Salary + Structure…

• £60,000 - £75,000 DOE

For more senior profiles, our client is open to considering salaries toward the upper end of the bracket, particularly where individuals bring broader leadership, technical oversight and industry-facing capabilities.

The business is also flexible on structure and open to initially setting the role up around a 3 to 4 day working week, with salary positioned on a pro rata basis accordingly. This creates an attractive opportunity for someone seeking greater flexibility whilst still operating at a genuinely senior and influential level.
