Specialty Doctor – General Adult Psychiatry
Salary: £52,530 to £82,400 per annum.

Qualifications
- Full Registration with the GMC with a licence to practise by the intended start date.
- A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in psychiatry (or equivalent part‑time experience) or equivalent experience and competencies in psychiatric specialties.
- Section 12 approval.
- Other postgraduate qualifications of relevance.
Clinical Duties
This is a fixed‑term post for 6 months (with the option to further extend) created due to a service gap. An induction will be provided to explain roles and responsibilities as well as your workplace. A Trust induction will also be provided after starting in your allocated post.
Key Responsibilities
- Join and document ward meetings, morning meetings, ward reviews and, at times, chair or lead these meetings.
- Perform clinical assessments of individuals with mental health problems admitted to the ward.
- Develop knowledge of mental health, including formulation of care plans and provide support to more junior team members.
- Perform physical health checks (bloods, ECGs and physical examinations) and liaise with general hospital/GP colleagues to maintain patient physical health.
- Develop psychiatric interview and risk assessment skills.
- Complete medical recommendations for detention under the Mental Health Act.
- Prepare reports and present evidence at tribunal hearings with appropriate supervision where necessary.
- Be flexible and accessible in providing appropriate care to the patients.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Comply with the trust values, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement work (e.g., audit, service development, etc.).
