Overview
We are seeking a salaried GP to provide maternity cover for approximately 9 months (starting 6 July 2026). The post is 4-6 sessions per week, ideally Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face, telephone and online GP consultations.
- Manage acute, long-term and preventive care within general practice scope.
- Perform home visits where clinically appropriate.
- Review investigations, hospital letters and other correspondence.
- Prescribe medicines in line with local and national guidance.
- Make referrals to secondary care and community services.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records.
- Participate in the duty/on-call rota and practice meetings within contracted time.
- Prioritise and manage same-day urgent demand safely.
- Engage in CPD, appraisal, and contribute to learning for colleagues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Fully qualified medical practitioner with MBBS or equivalent.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council.
- Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and engagement with annual GP appraisal and revalidation requirements.
- Experience working in UK general practice or comparable primary care setting.
- Competence in managing acute and chronic conditions in a community setting.
- Experience in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with electronic clinical systems (SystmOne).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to clinical governance and audit.
