Businesswise Solutions is an energy procurement and consultancy business supporting clients with energy purchasing, pricing strategy, supplier management and wider cost-reduction opportunities. We work closely with industrial and commercial customers to deliver tailored procurement solutions across both fixed and flexible energy contracts. We are looking for a Head of Pricing to join our successful Businesswise team. This role is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in our Nelson (Lancashire) office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Leading the pricing function across electricity and gas procurement activities
- Prepare, review and manage customer pricing submissions for both fixed and flexible contracts
- Analyse supplier offers and build clear pricing comparisons for internal teams and clients
- Support the development of pricing strategies aligned to market conditions and customer risk appetite
- Work closely with account managers, consultants and trading support to ensure pricing solutions are commercially sound and competitive
- Maintain and improve pricing models, templates and reporting tools in Excel
- Review supplier contract structures, non-commodity elements and pricing assumptions
- Support tender exercises, renewals and bespoke procurement projects
- Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve pricing queries and improve turnaround times
- Read and comply with the company Health & Safety Policy; take reasonable care for the Health & Safety of themselves and others; co‑operate with managers and other employees in fulfilling our objectives and statutory duties
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the energy industry
- Strong experience in energy procurement pricing
- Proven knowledge of both fixed and flexible energy contracts
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including complex formulas, lookups, data manipulation and pricing model development
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to interpret supplier pricing structures
- Confident working with large datasets and producing accurate pricing analysis
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain pricing clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working within an energy consultancy, broker, supplier or procurement business
- Good understanding of non-commodity cost components and wider market drivers
- Experience supporting customer tenders and pricing recommendations in a client-facing environment
- Familiarity with reporting tools, CRM systems or energy pricing platforms
