About the role

HS2’s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK’s best‑connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in northwest London. Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high‑speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the delivery of assured MEPH design packages on behalf of BBVS sub‑contractor Anthro, ensuring compliance with HS2 requirements, project‑wide assurance processes, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Manage design change control and technical delivery by the BBVS lead designer (WSP) for all MEPH scope, coordinating inputs, reviewing outputs, and securing approvals in line with project governance.
  • Coordinate internal interfaces with construction delivery, procurement, planning, digital engineering/BIM, quality, and H&S to ensure buildability, sequence alignment, and efficient delivery.
  • Manage external interfaces with third‑party stakeholders such as utilities providers, local authorities, statutory undertakers, fire authorities, Network Rail/TfL where relevant, and other HS2 package interfaces to secure consents, resolve clashes, and manage design dependencies.
  • Lead a team of 3 to 4 BBVS MEPH Design Managers, setting priorities, providing technical oversight, and fostering consistent design management practice and reporting.

Who we're looking for

  • Good understanding of all MEPFHC systems.
  • Experienced dealing with MEPHFC designers, contractors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including writing and presenting.
  • Capable of organising and developing your work with minimal supervision, managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice.
  • Engages with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders in pursuit of objectives.
  • Drives results by striving to achieve challenging goals, demonstrating resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity.
  • Possesses sound analytical ability, appreciating complex delivery issues and situations.
