Overview

Baker Hughes is a global energy‑technology company operating in more than 120 countries. Our Subsea and Intervention teams deliver critical tooling and systems that support safe, reliable, and efficient offshore operations throughout the asset lifecycle. The Life of Field (LoF) organization plays a key role in ensuring consistency, quality, and scalability across intervention tooling design activities.

Role Overview

As a LoF Senior Design Engineer you will provide consistent, standardized engineering design support across intervention tooling activities. You will reduce regional variation and eliminate ad‑hoc design approaches by establishing disciplined, repeatable, and modular design practices. Working under the direction of Principal and Application Engineers, you will act as a senior CAD authority with strong conceptual engineering capability, deep familiarity with Baker Hughes VGS tools, and a rigorous approach to configuration management.

Responsibilities

  • Design Governance & Standards: Ensure all design activities comply with Baker Hughes design standards, work instructions, and best practices; improve consistency and repeatability of design outputs; set expectations for modelling discipline, design structure, and documentation quality.
  • Model‑Based & Modular Design Leadership: Lead model‑based design activities for new‑build OWIRS systems from concept through detailed engineering; align designs with Baker Hughes design, manufacturing, and quality processes; embed modularity and configurability into new‑build designs, ensuring standard interfaces, tolerances, and module interchangeability; support development of standardized design “building blocks” to enable scalable modular solutions.
  • Project & Commercial Support: Provide CAD leadership for commercial tenders, including rapid turnaround of GA drawings, schematics, and system‑level configurations; release detailed engineering drawings for project‑specific adapters, TRTs, spools, and interfaces in line with client requirements; support vessel integration activities for Integrated Solutions projects, including deck layouts, tower and cursor system integration, and interface alignment between vessel, tower, and OWIRS equipment.

Qualifications

  • Be conscientious, flexible, versatile, and determined.
  • Communicate assertively and positively within technical and cross‑functional environments.
  • Work effectively within global teams and adapt to changing work demands.
  • Bring extensive experience as a CAD Designer / Draughtsperson in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong background in conceptual engineering through detailed design.
  • Have hands‑on experience with Baker Hughes VGS tools and drawing standards.
  • Possess proven experience in configuration management and controlled design environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting offshore, vessel‑based, or intervention systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing practices and design for manufacturability principles.

Benefits

  • Work‑life balance and wellbeing programs.
  • Comprehensive private medical care.
  • Life insurance and disability coverage.
  • Competitive financial programs.
  • Additional voluntary or elective benefits.
