Reports to: Senior Finance Business Partner (closely supporting Area General Manager)

Location: South East London

Medlock Partners are delighted to be partnering with a Global Engineering business based in the Cheshire area as they look to appoint a commercially focused Finance Business Partner to cover their South East region. Reporting to Finance Director and supporting the Area General Manager, the Finance Business Partner will play a key role in driving performance within the South East of the UK across operational, commercial and logistics functions.

This is a high-impact role with broad exposure, senior stakeholder engagement and genuine influence over decision-making, performance and long-term planning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial & Operational Business Partnering

  • Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to provide financial insight and challenge.
  • Support decision-making through robust financial analysis, scenario modelling, and investment appraisal
  • Drive understanding of profitability by customer, product, site, and activity
  • Support pricing decisions, margin improvement initiatives, and cost-to-serve analysis
  • Provide financial input into strategic projects, operational improvements, and capital investment proposals

2. Performance Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver timely and insightful weekly and monthly performance reporting
  • Analyse trading performance, identifying key drivers of variance against budget, forecast, and prior year
  • Prepare clear commentary on financial and operational performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Support the development of KPI reporting and forward-looking management information
  • Contribute to executive reporting requirements where required

3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

  • Support the annual business planning process across operational areas
  • Lead periodic forecasting cycles and rolling outlooks with budget holders
  • Challenge assumptions and ensure robust financial ownership across the business
  • Track delivery of actions and performance improvement plans

4. Working Capital & Cash Management

  • Support the management of inventory, debtors, creditors, and operational cash performance
  • Provide analysis and challenge around stock levels, aged balances, and cash conversion
  • Work closely with operational teams to improve working capital discipline and reporting
  • Ensure strong financial discipline and adherence to internal controls, policies, and governance standards
  • Support month-end processes, accruals, provisions, and balance sheet reviews where required
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial information used for decision-making
  • Support audit requests and continuous improvement of financial processes

Key requirements:

  • Able to form positive relationships with Executive, Senior and Depot Management
  • Experience across multi site cost centres, collating information from varying sources
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
  • Able to travel to multiple sites within the region
  • Excellent presentation & Strong data analysis skills
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Very effective organisational & time management skills
