Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Technical Engineer with deep experience in Kubernetes and the CNCF landscape to join our growing team. In this role you will be a key contributor to the design, implementation and maintenance of our Kubernetes infrastructure, ensuring its scalability, reliability and security. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, driving best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This is a hands‑on role with significant opportunities to impact our technical strategy and influence the direction of our platform.
What You'll Be Doing
Technical Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters and associated infrastructure components.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
- Drive innovation and best practices in cloud infrastructure design and implementation.
Team Management
- Develop a team of Agile delivery leads, cloud engineers & consulting partners that design and build platform shared services and secure landing zones.
- Ensure software engineering standards and modern SDLC practices are maintained.
- Act as a technical authority for Kubernetes.
- Understand security, risk and compliance frameworks, disaster recovery, high availability architectures, hardware, operating systems, and networking connectivity.
- Collaborate with internal teams (including Product Owners).
- Provide solutions/guidance on cloud budget management and optimisation.
- Be responsible for the backlog of delivery for the Kubernetes container team.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify areas for improvement in existing processes, tools and workflows, and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on our infrastructure.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and system administrators, to support their needs and align infrastructure initiatives with business goals.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing updates on project status and key initiatives.
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of people management experience building strong teams and leading engineers.
- A passion for people management and mentorship.
- Hands‑on experience in software development methodologies and Agile based delivery.
- Proven experience with Cloud Native technologies on at least one of the major cloud services providers (AWS preferred).
- Experience designing and delivering production cloud solutions at scale.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Preferably have CKA, CKAD and CKS qualifications.
- Extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing Kubernetes‑based cloud infrastructure.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a consistent record of leading technical teams to success.
- Deep understanding of cloud computing principles and technologies, with experience working with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools and practices (Terraform etc.).
- Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with application teams at all levels.
