About the Role

Director of Painshill – a historic Grade I listed garden covering 160 acres and drawing around 180,000 visitors a year – who will lead the organisation into its next chapter by safeguarding Hon. Charles Hamilton’s vision, driving a forward‑thinking strategy, elevating Painshill’s profile as a world‑class heritage destination, and ensuring long‑term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the dedicated team of staff and volunteers across all organisational functions.
  • Enhance the visitor experience throughout the landscape garden.
  • Grow income through membership, fundraising, partnerships, commercial activity, and other revenue streams to support public engagement and conservation.
  • Develop and deliver education programmes, community engagement initiatives, events, retail operations, and filming opportunities.
  • Drive a forward‑thinking strategy in partnership with the Board of Trustees to broaden Painshill’s reach and impact.
  • Maintain the heritage and conservation integrity of the site while exploring innovative opportunities to achieve long‑term sustainability.
