The Team

The Business Development and Marketing team work collaboratively to enhance Broadfield’s brand and reputation whilst driving growth through key client development activities including account management, pursuits, campaigns, client feedback, product development and targeting new business in key markets.

Account Management is a strategic priority for the firm. There is a clear growth path as Broadfield pursues an international trajectory. Recently opening its Hong Kong and New York offices, further developments are set to follow which provides an environment in which to take on challenges and develop professionally at pace. The Role

Reporting to the Chief Client and Corporate Development Officer this position operates across the UK firm with an increasing global remit. The role will also involve working closely with Client Service Partners, Department and Sector Heads alongside the wider partnership and Business Development and Marketing team.

Key responsibilities

  • BD strategy: Delivering against the firmwide BD strategy encompassing account management, campaigns, pursuits and client feedback prioritising the greatest areas of growth and opportunity for the firm in all practice areas.
  • Collaborative working: Working closely with the Chief Client and Corporate Development Officer, Head of Business Development and Projects and Head of Pursuits and New Business Development to support the firm’s growth plans and enhancing the Broadfield brand in the market in the Focus and Core Account programme.
  • Sales mindset: Developing and deploying a new approach to winning work across the firm by engaging with partners and fee earners to embed new systems and processes
  • Opportunity pipeline: Focusing on the firm’s strategic priority sectors and markets to develop a pipeline of high-value work from existing Top 100 accounts and new clients
  • Key Account Management: Being one of the in-house experts on Key Account Management (client and referrer) including implementing account-based marketing programmes with the Marketing Manager.
  • Client feedback programmes: Working with the wider team, to deliver the ongoing client feedback programme, driving insights directly into the client lifecycle and assisting the Chief Client and Corporate Development Officer, Head of Business Development and Projects and Head of Pursuits and New Business Development to use the feedback to influence firm strategy.
  • Bid support: Leading and working closely with fee earners and the Head of Pursuits and New Business Development on high priority pitches and bids.
  • Capability and proposal documents: Leading on the development and delivery of go to market documentation for their respective departmental and sector groups, including capability documents, proposals and other materials.
  • Team leadership: Mentoring and developing two BD Managers and a Senior BD Executive, and pro‑actively supporting team members in their personal development.
  • Learning & Development: Conducting and contributing to training sessions on BD fundamentals, skills and techniques to help lawyers deliver their own business plans
  • Stakeholder engagement: Developing strong and lasting relationships across the firm and in particular, with key stakeholder partners and leadership team members
  • Reporting & analysis: Measuring success and ROI to ensure maximum impact, with transparent reporting to the leadership team
