Role Overview

Payload Integration Manager within Product team: deliver rapidly integrated operational payloads across surface, aerial, and subsurface platforms. Operate in prototype‑warfare, ensuring right payloads identified, integrated, and fielded. Hands‑on, delivery‑focused, prioritising mission success over process.

Responsibilities

  • Own payload integration from concept to trial.
  • Identify and prioritise payload options with suppliers.
  • Translate intelligence and operational needs into integration reality.
  • Rapid prototyping and physical integration using CAD and 3D printing.
  • Pull critical inputs from Engineering to convert constraints into solutions.
  • Act as cross‑functional integration hub aligning operations, engineering, and commercial.
  • Support trials, demonstrations, operational testing; resolve issues in real time.
  • Define pragmatic payload requirements ensuring safety, repeatability, and speed.
  • Provide expertise on payload and weapons integration risks, trade‑offs, & future rapid‑delivery options.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3+ years weapons, sensor, or payload integration in defence, aerospace, maritime, robotics, or autonomous systems domains.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control interfaces; hands‑on with engineers.
  • Experience delivering prototype or rapid‑iteration capability.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and rapid prototyping / 3D printing.
  • Proven ability to engage external suppliers and coordinate with internal teams.
  • Comfortable translating incomplete operational needs into working payload integrations.
  • Familiarity with safety cases, certification constraints, and live trial environments.
  • Adaptable, self‑driven, efficient in fast‑moving, high‑pressure delivery settings.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally at short notice.
  • Able to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (minimum SC).

Security Requirements

Selected candidate must meet security requirements: right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) plus UK National security clearance where required.
