Role Overview
Talent Precision Group is supporting a well-established, owner-led business in Nottingham in the appointment of a Financial Controller.
This role focuses on financial control, stock and inventory oversight, commercial reporting, forecasting, and operational finance leadership within a fast-paced, import-led environment.
Reporting directly to the business owners and senior leadership team, the position offers significant exposure across operations, supply chain, stock management, and commercial decision-making, alongside a clear pathway toward a future Finance Director position.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Oversight and execution of day-to-day financial control activities
- Preparation and review of monthly management accounts and reporting
- Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Management and oversight of stock and inventory reporting processes
- Monitoring stock rotation, margin performance, and operational reporting accuracy
- Business partnering across operations, supply chain, and commercial teams
- Leadership and development of the finance function
- Review and improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting workflows
- Support operational and strategic decision-making through financial analysis
- Driving financial visibility and reporting accuracy across the business
Candidate Profile
- ACA, ACCA, CMA or CIMA qualified preferred
- Experience within stock-led, operationally focused environments
- Background in wholesale, FMCG, manufacturing, distribution, or import-led businesses advantageous
- Strong financial control and management reporting capability
- Commercially minded with strong operational awareness
- Hands‑on leadership style with willingness to operate close to the detail
- Strong systems and ERP knowledge within inventory-led environments
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability
- Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced and evolving business environments
- Interest in long‑term progression and leadership development
