We are seeking an exceptional Estate Manager with proven estate management experience to help lead a diverse multi-estate operation spanning approximately 10,000 acres across two regions in England.
This is a senior operational leadership role within a substantial private estate business and prior estate management experience is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a strong track record operating within complex rural, landed or mixed-use estates, with responsibility across property, land, projects, infrastructure and multidisciplinary teams.
The estates include:
- Significant Grade I and Grade II* listed properties
- A major historic house restoration project
- Extensive residential and commercial property portfolios
- Farming and forestry operations
- Biodiversity and nature recovery initiatives
- Hospitality, leisure and sporting enterprises
The Role
Working closely with the Estate Director, ownership and senior leadership team, the successful candidate will help oversee day-to-day operations, strategic projects and organisational development across the estates.
The role requires an individual who is equally comfortable managing operational detail and contributing to wider strategic decision-making within a fast-moving and high-expectation environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the overall management and coordination of estate operations
- Overseeing activities across property, projects and rural enterprises
- Leading and aligning multidisciplinary in-house teams
- Managing consultants, contractors and professional advisers
- Reviewing budgets, proposals and business plans
- Monitoring operational and commercial performance
- Supporting the development of new estate enterprises and income streams
- Maintaining consistently high standards across estate infrastructure and assets
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Significant previous estate management experience within a comparable environment
- Strong operational leadership capability across complex estates or rural businesses
- Excellent project and programme management skills
- Commercial and financial acumen
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management ability
- Calmness, resilience and sound judgement under pressure
- A genuine interest in rural enterprise, heritage and environmental management
- Accommodation may be available, together with an estate vehicle. Regular travel between locations will be required.
