Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward‑looking Band 6 Specialist Audiologist / Clinical Scientist (Audiology) to join our expanding Audiology Service at Oxford University Hospitals, one of the UK’s largest teaching hospitals.

Our service offers a comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation programme for patients with hearing loss, tinnitus and balance disorders, and includes a centre for paediatric audiology and an active Auditory Implant Programme. We are expanding our estates and workforce, with a new paediatric audiology facility in Banbury.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver adult audiology care, including diagnostic assessment and hearing aid rehabilitation for adults with hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis, and complex needs.
  • Provide specialist services such as tinnitus and hearing therapy, and support neuro‑otology and neurofibromatosis type‑2 clinics.
  • Conduct paediatric audiology assessments and hearing aid provision for children of all ages.
  • Support ENT clinics and liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise audiologists in training and contribute to service development.
  • Assist with the Auditory Implant Programme and complex hearing loss pathway.

Qualifications

  • BSc, MSc or equivalent in Audiology; current PTP or STP qualification strongly preferred.
  • Registration as an Audiologist with AHCS or as a Clinical Scientist with HCPC is mandatory.
  • Ideally, prior NHS experience in both adult and paediatric audiology.
  • Excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and strong teamwork.

Team and Development

We work with a multidisciplinary team that includes audiologists, assistant audiologists, clinical scientists, hearing therapists and administrative staff. The service offers in‑house CPD, training for PTP and STP trainees, and opportunities for professional development.

Accreditation

All team members are involved in service development as we work towards IQIPS accreditation.
