Position: Hand Surgery Nurse Practitioner (Band 7)
Overview
Our busy tertiary referral centre specialises in adult traumatic hand injuries and chronic hand conditions. As a Hand Surgery Nurse Practitioner you will work within a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, nurses, hand therapists and administrative staff, supporting clinical care and day‑to‑day departmental operations.
Responsibilities
- Independently assess and diagnose patients referred with hand trauma, developing and implementing management plans.
- Lead the nurse‑practitioner‑run hand trauma clinic, with consultant support available for complex cases.
- Maintain senior cover for dressing clinics, provide advanced wound‑care assessment and dressing changes.
- Oversee line‑management of junior nursing staff and other day‑to‑day operational duties.
- Coordinate follow‑up with the hand surgery team and support patients through the continuum of care.
Qualifications
- Active RN licence and Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice credentials.
- Minimum two years of hands‑on experience in hand or orthopaedic trauma.
- Proficient in wound care, splinting, emergency triage and critical‑thinking.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient‑centred, compassionate approach.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
