Our client is a growing environmental company providing essential waste management and recycling services across the UK. They are looking to appoint a hands‑on Maintenance Engineer to support the smooth and efficient running of their busy processing site in Rochester.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and proactive engineer who enjoys fault finding, preventative maintenance and improving equipment reliability in a fast‑paced operational environment.

Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining a range of plant and machinery, ensuring downtime is minimised and all equipment operates safely and efficiently.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance across site equipment and machinery
  • Respond to breakdowns and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
  • Repair and maintain conveyors, compactors, shredders and associated plant equipment
  • Complete maintenance records accurately using internal systems
  • Assist with stock control of spare parts and consumables
  • Support shutdowns, equipment installations and improvement projects
  • Work closely with operations teams to minimise disruption to production
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with health and safety standards

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling or waste management environment
  • Strong fault‑finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with conveyors, motors, pumps, hydraulics and pneumatic systems
  • Engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively
  • Forklift or mobile plant experience would be advantageous
