Behaviour Specialist – County Durham Secondary School, September 2026 start | Competitive daily rates | Long-term temporary

Schools run on relationships – and nowhere is that more true than in behaviour support. Teaching Personnel is looking for a qualified, experienced Behaviour Specialist to join a secondary school in County Durham from September 2026, in a long-term temporary capacity.

This is a role for someone who genuinely understands why students disengage, act out, or struggle to regulate – and who has the skills and experience to do something meaningful about it. You'll be working within an established pastoral and inclusion team, supporting some of the school's most complex students and helping to create an environment where everyone can learn.

The role:

  • Providing targeted behaviour support to students across KS3 and KS4
  • Developing and implementing individual behaviour plans
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, and the SENCO to deliver consistent approaches
  • De‑escalating difficult situations calmly and effectively
  • Mentoring students on a 1:1 basis and supporting reintegration after exclusions or absences
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to reviews and meetings as required

What we're looking for:

  • A relevant qualification in behaviour support, education, psychology, or a related field
  • Substantial experience working with young people with complex behavioural needs
  • Confident, trauma‑informed approach to behaviour management
  • Strong understanding of SEND and its relationship with behaviour
  • Excellent communication skills across students, staff, and families
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

What Teaching Personnel offers:

  • Competitive daily rates reflecting your qualifications and experience
  • Weekly pay via PAYE
  • Dedicated consultant support
  • Free CPD and training
  • Opportunities for permanent employment

Contract: Long‑term temporary | Start: September 2026 | Location: County Durham

Send your CV or call 0191 223 5071.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
