Business Development Coordinator – Affordable Housing

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 plus package. Flexible working. Based near Reading. Construction sector specialising in affordable housing, pre‑construction and work winning.

About the role

Walker & Sloan are recruiting a Business Development Coordinator for a growing regional construction contractor. The role supports the growth of the affordable housing division.

Working closely with the Pre Construction Director, the candidate will identify opportunities, manage client relationships, support bid submissions and help secure future projects with housing associations, local authorities, registered providers and developers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the regional business development strategy
  • Identify opportunities across affordable housing frameworks, negotiated projects and two‑stage tenders
  • Build and maintain relationships with housing associations, local authorities, registered providers and consultants
  • Manage and update CRM systems, opportunity pipelines and reporting
  • Support PQQs, tender submissions, framework applications and interview preparation
  • Coordinate client presentations, events and sector engagement activities
  • Monitor local market activity, housing trends, procurement pipelines and competitor activity
  • Assist with bid strategy, case studies, social value responses and work‑winning documentation
  • Maintain awards submissions and business development trackers
  • Represent the business at industry events and networking opportunities

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience in business development, bid coordination, pre‑construction or work‑winning within construction
  • Experience working for a main contractor, ideally in an SME or Tier 1 environment
  • Good understanding of the affordable housing sector and procurement routes
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Organised, commercially aware with strong attention to detail
  • Confident supporting presentations, tender submissions and stakeholder engagement
  • Self‑motivated and able to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
