The Role
To provide support to the Editor of ITV News, the senior leadership team and to oversee the effective management and operation of the ITV Newsroom as a whole.
Key Responsibilities
PA / Assistant to Editor
- Set up and attend Editor’s SLT and Exec meetings
- Respond (draft responses) to general, non-editorial questions, enquiries and request for information on behalf of Editor
- PA to Editor – diary management and general PA support
- Oversee Outlook diaries of ITV News management team (Head of Newsgathering, Head of Content, Dir of Finance & Operations)
- Staff inclusion – assist with staff inclusion initiatives such as social events, Network (Thrive, Empower), meetings and team-building events
- Arrange & attend awaydays and team meetings & events
Office management
- General upkeep of the newsroom
- Oversee, manage and ensure the upkeep of newsroom space, equipment, furniture, kitchen and storeroom
- Initiate newsroom improvements, making it a more sustainable space, making it a staff friendly space and a more inviting place to work
- Regular meeting with FM Anabas to monitor all facilities management operations within the newsroom
- Upkeep laptop and mobile phone asset list
- Manage allocation of laptop lockers
- Issue new-starter laptops, phone & lockers – where applicable
- General point of contact for visitors, guests, gallery auction prize-winners
- Allocate replacement laptops & phones to FT newsroom staff
- Oversee management of guests for the daily bulletins, where necessary
- Oversee editorial diary in Outlook
- Oversee smooth running/operations of all meetings rooms to prevent meeting conflicts
- Ensure the smooth management of meetings and all events held in the ITV Newsroom
- Work with Head Field & Tech Services and Tech Hub Assist Editor with fortnightly staff meetings set-up
- Assist with special programmes on “big events” (general & US elections; Royal Weddings; Royal death)
- Manage and administer Editor of the Day roster –issue list at the end of each week (be across SCE information)
- Provide support to all areas of the newsroom in the event of major world events & breaking news stories contributing to out-of-hours working
Diversity Outreach
- Outreach work in schools and universities; assist with set-up of newsroom diversity events
- Work closely with Head of Talent Acquistion on Apprentices / Trainees / Work Experience
- Oversee apprentices and trainees at ITV News
- Involvement in the work experience projects where applicable

- Proven experience working as a PA

- Ability to interact and relate to all levels of staff and to act as welcoming face of ITN to high-level visitors
