About the role

We are looking for an experienced and driven Scan 4 Safety Lead to play a pivotal role in transforming how supply chain systems support frontline healthcare across Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS trusts. The Lead will act as the operational lead for Scan 4 Safety systems, translating vision into real‑world impact across multiple hospital sites.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the operational lead for Scan 4 Safety, translating strategic vision into working practice across multiple Trust sites.
  • Maintain full knowledge of the Trust inventory management and Scan 4 Safety systems and develop further system knowledge as departmental growth requires.
  • Use system‑based information to identify problems and support problem‑solving with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop key performance indicators to monitor system performance and user compliance and report findings to senior management.
  • Lead the Systems Engineer team, ensuring that team roles and responsibilities are met and providing an efficient service to end‑users.
  • Manage departmental projects involving Scan 4 Safety systems, including project planning, delivery, and coordination with the Systems Engineer team.
  • Utilise departmental tools with a focus on standardisation and rationalisation to identify wastage reduction and savings opportunities across the Trust.
  • Participate in small procurement projects as directed by departmental leads.
  • Represent the Procurement department at conferences, networking events, and senior‑management meetings across the UK.
  • Provide and contribute to a first‑class customer care service for all users of the Trust.
  • Ensure service‑user expectations are met by complying with the Procurement Services Standards.
  • Assist Trust Management in meeting the corporate objectives of the Trusts and the Lancashire and South Cumbria partnership.
  • Work closely with members of the Logistics and Supply Chain team, Procurement team, and wider ward/departmental colleagues.
  • Provide departmental representation on senior‑management meetings and engagement sessions, presenting concise information to identified stakeholders.
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Trust colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • Undertake all relevant mandatory training.
  • Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the role and participate in appropriate training activities.
  • Lead and motivate employees to accomplish organisational goals and departmental vision.
  • Create strategies to achieve these objectives.
  • Manage change while implementing objectives.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Resolve conflicts and manage relationships.
  • Engage with external stakeholders for strategic system development.
  • Attend and chair senior meetings with various stakeholders.
  • Provide departmental representation at senior‑level meetings.
  • Identify opportunities for growth.
  • Develop the Personal Development Plan (PDP) within the Scan 4 Safety team.
  • Ensure clinical incidents are reported and managed in line with the Trust’s procedures.
  • Ensure all duties comply with the Trust’s Health & Safety policy.
  • Maintain appropriate records and files for customers in accordance with audit procedures.
  • Provide input and assistance in introducing new technology processes within the Procurement department in line with departmental strategies.
  • Have a good understanding of Trust policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust Standing Financial Instructions, EU legislation, and C.I.P.S.
  • Adhere to the Trust’s code of conduct.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proven leadership with management and project‑delivery experience.
  • Strong analytical problem‑solving skills, able to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with inventory management systems, e‑procurement, or Scan 4 Safety environments.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
