The role

As an Operations Site Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and high‑performing operation of SSE’s Solar & Battery Storage assets. Based primarily at Ferrybridge, this is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of the UK’s renewable energy transition while supporting a growing portfolio of utility‑scale renewable sites. This role requires a proactive and hands‑on supervisor who can maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational performance. While the position is primarily based in the Leeds/Ferrybridge area, flexibility to travel across the UK to support other Solar & Battery Storage sites will be required.

You will

  • Lead site safety, environmental compliance and operational excellence, ensuring all activities are delivered in line with company policies, site‑specific procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Plan, schedule and oversee maintenance and servicing activities to maximise plant availability, optimise generation performance and support production targets.
  • Ensure all work is effectively planned and safely executed using approved safe systems of work, including the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Coordinate emergency response activities in accordance with the approved Emergency Response Plan (ERP), including incident investigations, safety drills and sharing lessons learned across the wider business.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, reporting and work control activities to maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational quality.

You have

  • ONC / SNVQ Level III (or equivalent) qualification in an engineering discipline, alongside supervisory experience within a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Proven operational experience within utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar PV or other renewable energy assets.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, single line diagrams and schematics, alongside experience carrying out inspections and quality audits.
  • An understanding of financial processes and budget management, with the flexibility to travel across the UK and a full valid driving licence.
