Role: Senior Software Developer.
Role Purposes
The role is to lead the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications, provide technical leadership, and collaborate with stakeholders to meet business needs.
Responsibilities
- Application development – 3+ years experience creating Python, Django, ReactJS applications.
- Administration of Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and other relational database systems, including maintenance plans, database user and security audit, performance tuning and SQL best practices.
- Web programming using the Django framework.
- Front-end development with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, building web apps from scratch with attention to detail.
- Understanding of web application security, session management and development best practices.
- Enforcement of the OWASP framework throughout all coding.
- Create, maintain and coordinate backup mechanisms for business continuity while ensuring high availability.
- Maintain and update current applications, following change and release processes.
- Work with business analysts to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose and deliver expected benefits.
- Document code and share knowledge; provide ongoing support for all code written.
- Create and maintain application documentation in line with ISO 9001 Quality Management guidelines.
- Ensure personal health and safety compliance for yourself and colleagues.
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Strong knowledge of programming with Swift, ReactJS, Docker, Django, Python, HTML 5.
- Excellent knowledge of relational database systems including SQL.
- Experience provisioning, implementing, maintaining, and evolving the e.surv data warehouse and databases with a focus on performance.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows command line interfaces.
- Experience with user interface design technologies.
- Coaching junior team members.
- Handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Experience with TDD or BDD.
- Unit testing.
Desirable
- Azure DevOps.
- Experience with Scrum or Kanban, PSM, PSD.
- Understanding of data integrity and security concepts.
- ITIL principles.
- Software development process knowledge – SDLC.
- Machine Learning experience.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent.
- 5 years' experience as a software developer.
